Full Version: ICECavern Member of the Year 2006 awards!
ICECavern > Main > General Chat

OK here's the deal. As you will see from the email currently being sent out from the site, this year ICECavern are going to be giving out an award for the member(s) that has/have contributed most to the site. The prize isn't set yet but hopefully it'll be a pretty damn good one so well worth making the effort.

What do you do to win I hear you ask? Well it's very simple.

The admin, and current site mods, will be deciding at the end of the year which member(s) is/are most worthy of winning the prize.

Examples of ways to gain an advantage are...

Promoting the site on other internet forums

Going around your local car audio retailers, telling them about the site, and getting info for the Installer index. Maybe even help get the site funds through promoting advertising on the site.

Handing out flyers at your local cruises and shows

Writing articles for the site ( event reports, how-tos, FAQS )

Joining in with the forum banter

Putting your car on ICECavern show stands, organising local ICECavern member meets.

Basically anything that helps the site grow, helps us have more content, and generally makes the site a better place biggrin.gif

Also obviously we're open to suggestions on how to make the site better so these would be helpful as well and will help your goal of winning some top goodies biggrin.gif

Surely just knowing you're contributing would give you a warm fuzzy feeling inside biggrin.gif
kirsty

That's what I said wink.gif
just didn't use as many words... eyebrow.gif eyebrow.gif
pete
Does nobody want to win any prizes then? wink.gif
Rog
Guess not... does that mean there's more to be shared out between admin, mods & helpers?
pete
Well so far the most notable contributions have been from Richie Rich for handing out flyers at Donny, and Mulletboy2 for pointing people to ICECavern from the MGrover forum ( Yes I do check where people are visiting from wink.gif )
Pagnobito
Well, I don't think I will win any prizes.

I used to own a Seat, which got a minor upgrade, and now a Lexus that already has a brilliant install as standard, 14 speakers and Dolby Digital or DTS and surround mixing for stereo source. I'm not sure of the power output, but it goes loud enough to hurt and no distortion.

Never mind, maybe I can promote the site in other ways.
pete
"Standard"?!?!?! We don't use that word on this site when it comes to ICE bleh.gif
Pagnobito
Well alright, it is a Premium Mark Levinson system. It is the best 'standard' kit I have heard.

Hows that?

ah yes the levinson system

took one out recently after the salesman promised a customer of mine its way better than anything we aftermarket boys can do bum.gif

how he ate his words as he handed the cheque over for a refund fo the system doh.gif

but still ok for a factory system with high profit margin in it for dealers
Pagnobito
I do realise of course that aftermarket can be better, but I didn't pay the mark up as it was a nearly new car.
I don't think I will be ripping it out, I can't face the thought of pulling my lovely car apart quite yet.
Supposedly the system is 'acoustically tuned' to the car whatever that means.
Ive gone off thread, sorry, you can move it or delete if you want.

Good luck with the member awards, like I say I dont rate my chances!
pete
Anyone that helps the site out is in the running. You don't have to have a special install to help the site...

wink.gif
Pagnobito
Cool, I have checked the list in the first post, I will see what I can do.

I do have an idea of recording the upgrade to the stereo system on the Porsche 928 I own, but I am not sure when I will be getting round to that, and how useful it will be to others as it is not a particularly common car!
I could even rip my missus car to bits and do an install on that, but I don't think she will let me.

Looks like it is promotion for the site for me then. I don't think I look very good in hotpants though. whistle.gif
Richie Rich
hey pete is there any more shows closer to oxford? or about the same as donny? i would have a much better sound quality install but very lacking the looks untill maybe the start of summer next year. pritty big install being drawn up and done properbly this time ha ha ha at me...
pete
The only other one is Trax Really, but there hasn't been much interest in a stand in the thread.

You mean, Sarah's not a contender for the flyering at Donny North, the photography and hanging out of a car window taking photographs at 70mph in the rain??

OK, I know, she actually has to send you the photos as well...!!!
Richie Rich
ok not to worry, i have the best chance this month for my gf to consentrate on what i am sayin this week, so i might get some plans together for what is going to happen to my car (she is wanting a new leon Fr tho)

Get a move on then!!!
RichieRich
hey pete my install is starting to take effect lol ill be coming to donny south and trax this year!! i have a new gf to and she might bring the crowds in lol if she comes...
pete
Will definately be doing Donny South but I'm going to Edition38 this year not Trax. If there's enough interest I have no objection to having a stand at Trax if someone wants to run it.
RichieRich
were is edition38 then pete?
pete
Overstone Park, Northampton, same weekend as Trax
