Now when you come to buy a new alarm to
protect your pride and joy what is most important to you? OK
so you want to keep the car so what's next on the list? For
some they just want to press a button and the car locks / unlocks.
Others, myself included, want something just a little bit special.
Call me a poser or whatever but I love gadgets and I wanted
as many as possible on the alarm. A trip to SQ+ and a chat with
Phil Leech later and I had booked my car in for the full works.
A Clifford Concept 600. Fine but the man had to demo me his
in his Lexus didn't he? One press of a button on the remote
and vroooom the engine was running.. I just had to have that...
Now I had this fitted to my trusty Cordoba SX and come time
to trade up to a newer, faster, and more comfortable mode of
transport I was off to SQ+ again to have them move it from the
Cordy and into my new Leon. There was no way the dealer was
getting his hands on this piece of kit...
So anyway back to the point, in all I've had this alarm
for 18 months so it's had a good test, and any faults should
have shown up by now.
First off, a run down of the features. OK so it's Thatcham
Cat 1 approved so your insurance company might go a little
easier on you, and it's got a wireless immobiliser which means
without hours of searching a thief wont be able to start the
car. It's got "blackjax", Cliffords anti-hijack
system, so you can safely step out of the vehicle if the situation
ever arrives. It also helps guard against the increasing threat
of the theft of keys from inside the house. Add to this a
dual zone sensor to warn off anyone who might consider damaging
the car, window rollup, central locking output and several
outputs that can be used for anything from switching on the
headlights to popping the boot open and you pretty much have
everything you could wish for. And that's before you add remote
start to it.
Over the 18 months I've owned it the system has performed
flawlessly. Once you get used to typing the code into the
valet switch every time you open a door to disable the blackjax,
which incidentally takes only a couple of days, you almost
forget it's there. And as yet another safety feature it locks
the doors for you when you drive off to stop anyone getting
in.
As you can tell I'm very happy with it. In fact now I've
tried it, there's no way I'll have anything else. Clifford
makes some of the most advanced alarm systems around and if
you're in the market for one I would highly recommend you
take a look at their range. OK so the Concept 600 and intellistart
together will loosen your wallet for £900 but for around
£300 you could have the lower spec Concept 300. And
all the other features of the 600 can be added at a later
stage.
Oh and if you're on the lookout for one and you're in the
North West, do yourself a favour and go and have a word with
SQ+. You wont find a better fitter than Graig, he'll do a
top notch job, and with this many gadgets you need to know
it's done right. Just don't ask Phil for a demo... |
